IBSU hosted Japanese Ambassador to Georgia Imamura Akira. The Ambassador visited the University at the invitation of International Relations and Japanese Culture Student Clubs. During the visit, the Ambassador met with the Rector of the University, Safet Bairaktutani, and delivered a lecture to students on "Modern Challenges of World Diplomacy." During the lecture, the Ambassador discussed the history of Japan's development, the main challenges facing modern Japan and the world, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the history of Japanese-Georgian diplomacy. The Ambassador of Japan, along with the University Rector and students, also participated in the planting of sakura trees in the courtyard of the IBSU campus. The ambassador also spoke to the students in an informal setting, answering their questions openly, talking about his impressions of Georgia and his own experience.
