The Debate and Critical Discussion Club and the American Studies Student's Union organized a bilingual event dedicated to Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The students raised awareness about sexual violence, prevention, and support for those affected by it. They also shared their own experiences, as well as those of their acquaintances who had fallen victim. The students wore jeans to support the campaign (Denim Day is a campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month). Tamar Shioshvili, Dean, Head of American Studies BA and Ph.D. Programs and Tea Chumburidze, Head of the US Foreign Affairs MA Program, as well as the American Studies students, attended the discussion. SAAM is crucial as it opens up a conversation that far too many people are afraid to have. It seeks to try and educate as many people as possible about what is going on in Georgia and the world.
